Oiada Opens Telepresence Center in Cape Coast, Ghana to Connect Students Worldwide

The COVID-19 pandemic was a defining moment in our journey as educators and global students. More than ever, educational institutions saw the outright need and ultimately the value to adapt a new educational context: Distance Learning. In addition, given the global nature of our 21st century society, today’s youth need to be exposed to their peers from around the world in order to appreciate and respect the rich diversity of our world’s cultures as we are truly a global village. Global Village is defined as the phenomenon of the entire world becoming more interconnected as the result of the propagation of media technologies throughout the world. Educational and literary scholars describe how the term global village has come to designate “the dominant term for expressing a global coexistence altered by transnational commerce, migration, and culture”.

Oiada is a non-profit organization headquartered in the US and Ghana that provides award-winning educational and experiential programs via videoconference that empowers students to become global citizens. Since the opening of our initial centers in 2009, over 500,000 students in 50 US states and 70+ countries worldwide have engaged in our programs. What differentiates our programs is that we give students the opportunity to participate in “LIVE” face to face interaction via videoconference with their international peers to develop educational and cultural awareness and become active participants in our Global Village.

To that end, it is with great excitement that we invite you to the grand opening of Oiada International's latest state-of-the-art Cisco powered Telepresence Center in Cape Coast, Ghana. With Cisco technology at the core of our center, we will be able to continue connecting students from all over the world through video conferencing while providing them with a uniquely immersive educational experience. We are proud to share that we recently won the 2023 USDLA Gold Trendsetter Award. We believe that this accolade recognizes our commitment to providing award-winning educational and experiential programs via videoconference, which takes learning well beyond the four walls of the school building.
