Catching Up or Leading the Way: A Discussion on Education with Dr. Yong Zhao

Yong Zhao (http://zhao.educ.msu.edu) is University Distinguished Professor at the College of Education, Michigan State University, where he also serves as the founding director of the Center for Teaching and Technology, executive director of the Confucius Institute, as well as the US-China Center for Research on Educational Excellence. On Wednesday, May 5, 2010, from 3:00-4:00pm EST, Dr. Zhao will discuss his perspectives on American education, global competitiveness, creativity and innovation put forth in his recently published book, Catching Up or Leading the Way: American Education in the Age of Global Competitiveness (http://zhao.educ.msu.edu/2009/11/14/3/). Dr. Dennis Lauro, Superintendent of the Pelham UFSD will moderate the conference. The videoconference is jointly hosted by the Eastchester UFSD, the Pelham UFSD, the BEPT Teacher Center and Michigan State University. We seek five interactive sites to participate in the discussion and 10 "view only" sites for this event. All slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participating sites must have an IP video conferencing connection and should be available for a test call to our bridge during the week of April 26-30.
