Holocaust Videoconference

About

On Thursday, April 30, 2009, the Eastchester Union Free School District and the Westchester Holocaust Education Center will host two multi-point videoconferences on the Holocaust for middle school and high school students. The first conference will run from 10:00-11:15am EST and the second conference will run from 1:00-2:15pm EST. The 10:00am conference will feature Mr. Sel Hubert, who experienced "Kristallnacht," and Ms. Clara Knopfler a survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camp. The 1:00pm conference will feature Mr. Alan Moskin, who as an American soldier, participated in the liberation of the Gunskirchen and Mauthausen concentration camps; and Ms. Clara Knopfler, a survivor of Auschwitz. The speakers will offer their perspectives on the Holocaust, its relationship to the “human spirit” and will field questions from the conference participants. The conference will be moderated by Mr. Andrew Cahn, Regional Museum Educator for United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. For each conference, interactive participation is available to 6 sites on a first-come, first- served basis. Other schools may connect as "view only" sites. There is no fee for participating in these events, but an IP connection is required to connect to the bridge. Please contact John Blaser via email (jblaser@eastchester.k12.ny.us) to reserve a slot. Once participation is confirmed, a test call will be scheduled with each site.
