Our NING for Site Coordinators welcomed 25 new members since our last e-Note!
To keep our community active, it will take all of us.
Won't you consider adding/sharing something on the NING on the date of your birthday each month? For example, my birthday date is the 27th, so I'll add something February 27, March 27, etc. I've made a note on my calendar. How about you?
Meet and learn others who have been where you are. Offer help to those who are where you have been!
Feel free to contact me with any needs or questions.
Sincerely,
Dawn Colavita

BEST EXPERIENCE: A CHRISTMAS VISIT
I created a "VC with Santa" session with 3 schools. We converted a meeting room at our board office with props and decorations to make it look like Santa's workshop, convinced two administrative staff members to play Santa and Mrs. Claus, and dressed them up to play the part. Before the sessions, the schools provided us with questions the students would ask, information about their school's projects, and their favourite books. Using this data, we prepped Santa and his Mrs. with cue cards, flip charts and the books to read to each classroom. We rotated through the schools as they refreshed the classrooms with new students so we could achieve small group interaction while reaching as many students as we possible.
LESSONS LEARNED: PEERS MAKE IT HAPPEN
I have found it very valuable to support and promote teachers who are excited about VC'ing and use them as cheerleaders for our program. When new users hear success stories from their peers, the amount of buy-in increases.
LINGERING QUESTION: WHY?
If cost, technical and finding content are not issues, what are the concerns and/or hesitations that teachers have when considering a content provider program for their classroom?
