SIGIVC Update

All Roads Lead to Videoconferencing

The need for a vehicle to find international collaboration partners was shared by participants at ISTE's SIGIVC Forum in July 2007 and at the CILC Symposium in November 2007.

The solution is here!
A SIGIVC International Wiki has been created. Here you can find international organizations, a link to a videoconferencing site directory, and a place to share best practices for international videoconferencing collaborations.

Now it is up to you!

  1. If you are aware of any other International Organizations who help match up classrooms, please post them to this wiki.
  2. If you are interested in creating an international collaboration, post your organization/site to the videoconferencing directory.
  3. If your organization/site is already registered on www.cilc.org, it is already posted in the videoconferencing directory!
  4. If you have international contacts, please direct them to the wiki and encourage them to post their organizations information on the videoconferencing directory.
  5. This project will only be as valuable as you all make it!

Don’t forget to attend the SIGIVC Forum at NECC 2008! If you are an ISTE member, be sure to join SIGIVC–there’s no extra fee!

SIGIVC is a Special Interest Group for Interactive Video Conferencing.
It is part of ISTE, The International Society for Technology in Education, which provides leadership and service to improve teaching, learning, and school leadership by advancing the effective use of technology in PK–12 and teacher education.

Founded in 2005, SIGIVC works to promote the understanding of interactive videoconferencing (IVC) and related virtual learning technologies within the K-12 education community by advancing collaboration, information dissemination, research, and practices.

Our business meeting and our forum (a place to learn and share) take place at the National Educators Computing Conference (NECC) each summer. During the rest of the year, both the executive committee and the 5 working committees meet virtually to continue the work defined at the forum and business meetings and to plan for the sessions at the next year’s NECC.

The Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC) operates with a related Indiana
nonprofit 5.0.1c(3), Vision Athena, that provides services under the name CILC.
