| Program Description | Tropical RainForests are found, of course, in the tropics. But what are the "tropics?" Students will learn the definition of tropics and where to find them in a map. We will look at the four layers of the forests and identify some of the organisms that live in each. We will finish by connecting our everyday lives with these fabulous forests. | |
| Program Format |
1. The program begins reviewing what the students know about tropical rainforests. 2. Using the Earth's globe and maps, we will then explore what and where the Tropics are found, and what are the characteristics of a tropical rainforest. 3. We will identify the four main layers of the rainforest and learn some of the fauna and flora characteristic to the area. Various visuals will be used. 4. The students will discuss the importance of the tropical rainforest, and some of the products from it that we use everyday. 5. Time is allowed for questions and answers. |

The students will: - learn what tropical rainforests are and where they are found around the world. - recognize some of the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforests. - Students will learn some simple ways to can help protecting these great ecosystems. |
