Format
1. This program begins with a discussion of what nocturnal means as well as why animals choose this adaptation.
2. Adaptations of nocturnal animals are then discussed (large eyes, large ears, darkly colored fur, good sense of smell.
3. Bats and echolocation is then explained
4. Live animals are brought out and discussed (owl, chinchilla, and hedgehog)
Objectives
The participant will:
- realize what nocturnal means and why some animals are like this
- learn why some animals can change from being nocturnal to diurnal
- develop an appreciation of the special adaptations that nocturnal animals have
- learn about 3 live animal examples
