Home sweet home!  All living things have a place to call home, but is it as simple as a safe place to rest your head at night?  Join us as we discover what living things need to survive.  Special Ambassador Animals will greet your students and help explore the details of a habitat.The Lee Richardson Zoo's Distance Learning Studio offers a multitude of environmental programs to students all over the nation. Our programs include 2-4 live animals. However, we are currently unable to give programs from actual exhibits around the zoo.

Cost

By Request: $130.00


The fee for all Distance Learning programs is $130 per program. Payment in full must be received no later than twenty-four (24) hours before the program is scheduled to occur.

Length

30 minutes for Kindergarten programs and 45 minutes for all other grades.

CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event that a program must be canceled due to weather, technical issues, or other circumstances beyond the control of the Zoo or program recipient, the program may be rescheduled at a later date agreeable to both parties for no additional charge (dependent on availability).

REFUND POLICIES: Once registration is confirmed, the Lee Richardson Zoo adheres to a no-refund, no-credit policy. If a program is canceled at any time for any reason other than those listed above, no refund or credit will be given. Substitution of another group of participants of the same age is permitted with prior notification

Program Details

Format

1. This program begins by introducing the term habitat.
2. The four key components of habitat are reviewed, and students test their knowledge with identifying habitats.
3. Meet 2-3 animal guests to explore what their habitat is.
4. Wrap-up.

Objectives

• Be able to define the term habitat and demonstrate its four components.
• Students will be able to provide examples of animals and the features of that animal’s habitat.
• Students will be able to identify unique features of some animals that help make survival in a habitat simpler.
