Program Details

Format

  1. Introduction and Overview: The program starts with a brief introduction to marine animal rescue and rehabilitation, inviting participants to share any prior knowledge or questions they have about the topic.
  2. Segment 1 - Rescue and Rehabilitation: Participants learn about the processes involved in rescuing and rehabilitating marine animals, including common injuries and the care methods used.
  3. Segment 2 - Mote's Work: We explore Mote Marine Laboratory's rescue and rehabilitation programs, featuring case studies and showcasing the techniques and success stories of their work.
  4. Segment 3 - Conservation Impact: The program concludes with a discussion on the broader impact of marine conservation efforts and how participants can contribute to protecting marine life.
  5. Questions and Answers: Time is provided for participants to ask questions and engage in a discussion about marine animal rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation.

Objectives

  1. The learner will identify the key steps in marine animal rescue and rehabilitation, including common injuries and care practices.
  2. The learner will analyze the strategies used by Mote Marine Laboratory to rehabilitate and release injured sea turtles, dolphins, and manatees.
  3. The learner will discuss the impact of marine conservation efforts on protecting vulnerable species and restoring marine ecosystems.
  4. The learner will formulate personal actions they can take to support marine animal rescue and conservation.
