Celebrate Black History Month with the Cleveland Museum of Art.  This program considers highlights from the museum's collection created by Black American artists from the 19th through 21st centuries.  Artworks include a sculpture by Edmonia Lewis, whose work references her Indigenous (Ojibwe) and African American ancestry; a painting by Robert Colescott, known for his figurative paintings that critique contemporary American culture; and a sculpture by Simone Leigh, which draws on traditions throughout global art and culture to address issues surrounding the female body, race, beauty, and community.
