Anyone can write to the President! Our Constitution gives us the right to communicate with our elected leaders. In this program, students will analyze primary source letters written to President Eisenhower by kids, noting their purpose and topics of the 1950s. Ideas about writing your own letter will be discussed, as well!


This program is also available by request. To make a request for a specific date, please use this form. Please note that there must be a minimum of 10 participants to request your own date.

Program Details

Format

1. This program begins with a brief introduction to Dwight D. Eisenhower and his historical significance.
2. Begin interactive activity.
3. Question and answer period.

Objectives

1. Discuss the importance of civic duty.
2. Students will analyze primary source letters written to President Eisenhower by kids, noting their purpose and topics of the 1950's.
2. Discuss ideas for students to write their own letter.
