These cross-curricular programs are rooted in national standards and supported by educators who utilize best practices and high-quality educational materials. IKEducation is a collaborative initiative between the Eisenhower Foundation and the Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum, and Boyhood Home in Abilene, Kansas.

Format

Format
1. The history and traditions of Christmas in the White House will be discussed
2. Short trivia quizzes are integrated into the program
3. A focus on how the Eisenhower family celebrated Christmas in the White House
4. Question and answer period.

Objectives

1. Students will compare and contrast the Christmas traditions of Presidents living in the White House.
2. Students will analyze primary source artifacts - Christmas ornaments given to President Eisenhower by Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev.
3. Students will reflect on Christmas traditions.
4. Students will develop and appreciation for the Christmas preparation Presidents and their spouses and why it is important.
