Program Details

Format

1. The program begins by asking students ways that the Earth changes.
2. We then analyze data on all earthquakes over the past 25 years and looking for patterns.
3. We explore the causes of earthquakes, focusing on those around tectonic plate boundaries as evidence for the existence of tectonic plates.
4. Students explore other effects caused by tectonic plates including volcanoes, mountain ranges, and our moving continents.
5. Time is left for Q&A.

Objectives

Participants will:
- Explore the causes of earthquakes.
- Examine evidence for the existence of tectonic plates.
- Learn the different kinds of earthquakes and what causes them.
- See how Earth's continents have moved over the last few hundred million years.
