Format
1. This program begins with the history of the Monuments Men during WWII. Primary sources will be analyzed.
2. Dwight Eisenhower's love of painting will be discussed.
3. The pop culture craze of the 1950's, paint by number kits will be discussed and how the White House hopped onto the popularity of those kits.
4. As a follow-up activity, students will be able to re-create one of Dwight Eisenhower's paintings as a paint-by-number.
Objectives
1. Students will analyze primary sources to draw conclusions about the historical significance of the Monument Men. 2. Students will respond to the popular culture significance of Paint-by- Number. 3. Students will demonstrate knowledge of President Eisenhower's painting hobby through an interactive quiz. 4. Students will engage in painting a landscape by paint-by-number.
