Ocean Wise is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower communities and individuals to take action to protect and restore the world's oceans.


Live workshops guided by Ocean Wise experts, focus on inquiry-based learning with an environmental and climate change focus. Not your average digital workshops, students will play mini-games, lead their own discussions, and enjoy some surprises along the way. Using scientific findings and data collected by Ocean Wise’s world-renowned research team, they will get an inside view of the latest climate and ocean science and come away feeling empowered to make positive change.

Program Details

Format

1. Discuss how humans would survive in the arctic and compare it to animals and plants
2. Explore how Indigenous groups hunt, forage and survive in the Arctic
3. Discover & "talk" to different animals in the Arctic, and their unique adaptations that help them survive
4. Complete challenges along the way - Search & find activity, Ice dodging movement activity, match the sounds to the animal activity & trivia
5. discuss threats to the Arctic region like climate change and disruptions in the food chain
6. Open up for Q&A

Objectives

- Learn about Indigenous cultures and how they survive in the Arctic and embed sustainability into their way of life
- Explore the Arctic region, animals that live in it, their unique adaptations and how they survive
- Understand the impacts of climate change in the Arctic
- Engage in discussion about why protecting the arctic is so important
