Rock'n Rainforest

Rainforests are a rockin’ place to live, but why is such a party in the jungle!?  Join us for this engaging program that will allow your students to discover the wonders of the rainforest for themselves.  Special rainforest Ambassador Animals will join us throughout the program to help illustrate the wonder that is to be found in this unique location. The Lee Richardson Zoo's Distance Learning Studio offers a multitude of environmental programs to students all over the nation. Our programs include 2-4 live animals. However, we are currently unable to give programs from actual exhibits around the zoo.

REFUND POLICIES: Once registration is confirmed, the Lee Richardson Zoo adheres to a no-refund, no-credit policy. If a program is canceled at any time for any reason other than those listed above, no refund or credit will be given. Substitution of another group of participants of the same age is permitted with prior notification.

Program Details

Format

1. This program begins by introducing rainforests and it’s unique qualities.
2. Review the layers of the rainforest.
3. Meet 2-3 Ambassador Animals that connect to the rainforest.
4. Discover ways we can help protect the rainforest right at home.
5. Wrap-up.

Objectives

• Students will be able to explain the unique qualities of the rainforest with emphasis on climate.
• Students will be able to describe the different layers of the rainforest
• Students will be able to describe the role of decomposers to the rainforest for nutrient cycling.
• Students will be able to explain how they and their families can have a direct positive impact on rainforest ecosystems.
