Format
1. We will begin with a quick "How well do you care for yourself" check up
2. Definitions of various cancer related words and statistics are given.
3. Anatomy is reviewed
4. How to perform BSE is explained and IF models have been shipped to the site, practice BSE on models will occur
5. Review what should happen if she finds a change in her breasts
6. A brief description of treatment options follows.
Organizations who opt to have models shipped to them will need to inquire about a deposit on the models and will be responsible for the cost of shipping the models to their school and back to McMillen Health.
Objectives
1. Define relevant terms for breast cancer
2. State the range of age for development and symptoms that may occur with breast cancer
3. Identify the main risk factor for breast cancer
4. Name the main benefit of early detection
5. Perform a breast self exam on the model or explain how it is done
6. Explain when an exam should be done
7. Explain what steps should be taken if an abnormality is noticed.
