Format
1. This interactive program will begin by discussing what would happen if we had no bones. Then discuss questions like: How do you know we have bones? Have you ever seen them? How can we see them? Were we always able to see inside the body? How can we see inside to our skeletons? Did you know you have more bones than your parents?
2. In an age appropriate way, we will discuss the discovery of X-rays and how they work. Discuss why Dr. Roentgen named the “X” rays.
3. In an age appropriate way, discuss why some things show up on X-rays and others things to do show up.
4. Look at a wide assortment of X-ray images including broken bones, healthy bones, toys, chips, alligators, and snakes and many more.

1. To challenge students to think about how scientific discoveries change the world, and affect their own lives.
2. To engage students in science as inquiry as we pose questions and discuss the answers.
3. To show how research in one topic has connections in many other disciplines of study.

SPEAKING AND LISTENING
Following this interactive video conference with the author, class discussion about the topic and the speaker’s point of view of the topic will reinforce comprehension. Students can choose a topic about X-rays discussed during the video conference as a topic for a speech which will reinforce research skills, comprehension, collaboration, knowledge and ideas.
