Let’s talk fishes LIVE from the Texas State Aquarium as your students observe, compare and contrast the diversity of fishes in Aquarium habitats. Together, we’ll differentiate between fish body shapes, infer how shapes help them survive and thrive in their habitats, and create a special fish drawing.

This is a 30-minute program, best suited for learners in PreK – 2nd grade.

Format

1.This program begins by discussing fish characteristics
2.Discuss different fish body shapes and how they are adapted to living in perspective habitats
3.Live look a fish at Texas State Aquarium
4.Draw fish
5.Wrap up/Show off fish
6.Time is allowed for questions and answers

Objectives

The participants will:
-Explore fish adaptations (body shapes)
-Compare fish body shapes with familiar items (frisbee, ribbon, football)
-Relate specific body shapes with perspective habitats
-Develop an appreciation for marine life
