Memory Care: A Walk Down Memory Lane for Seniors

A museum presenter will provide background information about the History of the Toy Museum. The narrator will show different toys and ask the participants to share their memories about these toys from the past and about their childhood. Different toys will be displayed focusing on helping the seniors remember their childhood favorites such as Howdy Doody, Shirley Temple and Raggedy Ann and Andy to name a few. Narrator will reiterate that group members grew up in different geographic areas and different families with economics playing a major role in the availability of toys for household members

Format

1. Program begins with History of Toy Museum
2. Toys from the 1920's, 30's, 40's and 50's will be shown.
3. Stories about some of these toys will be told.
4. discussion with participants about their childhoods and their favorite toys.
5. Q & A

Objectives

The participant will:
- reconnect to their childhoods.
- Use their memory skills.
- have an entertaining experience.
- feel like a kid again.
