The Alaska Zoo Distance Learning Program invites you to meet our beary awesome brown bears in a live 45-60-minute videoconference presentation. Explore the unique characteristics and behaviors of brown bears, discover the individual personalities of our resident bears, and hear the rescue stories that brought them to the Alaska Zoo.

This program must be booked at least one week in advance of the desired program date and time.
All invoices will be emailed along with a program confirmation email upon reserving your program date and time. All fees are in United States currency.

Provider's Cancellation Policy

We will not charge for programs cancelled due to nature. The full fee will be charged to sites which cancel with less than 48 hours notice. We reserve the right to shorten or cancel your program if you are more than 15 minutes late connecting with us.

Program Details

Format

1. Welcome & Introductions (5 min)
Meet your Alaska Zoo educator and get introduced to our resident brown bears.

2. Live Bear Enrichment & Fun Facts (15 min)
Watch the bears participate in live enrichment activities while learning fascinating facts about brown bear behavior, diet, and habitat.

3. Bear Rescue Stories (10 min)
Hear the unique background stories of each bear and discover how they came to live at the Alaska Zoo.

4. Biofacts Discovery (5 min)
Get an up-close look at real bear biofacts, including skulls and teeth, and learn how these adaptations help bears survive.

5. Awesome Adaptations (5 min)
Explore amazing brown bear adaptations through engaging photos and videos.

6. Questions & Answers (10 min)
Wrap up the program with an interactive Q&A session.

Objectives

Through this program participants should be able to:
*List some brown bear characteristics.
*Describe bear adaptations and how they are used for survival.
*Identify where they live and what they eat.
*Discuss how brown bears care for their young.
