Program Details

Format

1. Author Valerie Marsh shares the story of Isaac Newton and his Law of Gravity, and introduces the sign language we will use with our science experiments..
2. Miss Liz the Science Wiz introduces the concept of gravity, matter, mass, distance, orbit, and center of gravity.
3. Students make predictions and then test them using their paper apple.
4. We question, predict, test, observe, conclude as we conduct our experiments.
5. We review the science conapts, the story of Isaac Newton and the signs we learned.
6. We challenge your students to identify and demonstrate these physics concepts at home, on the playground, in the classroom, everywhere!

Objectives

Your students engage in Action Science to learn important basic physics concepts. In the process, they will:
-be able to show someone else the signs that we used
-engage in the scientific method
-demonstrate an understanding of the science terms: Materials, Question, Predict, Experiment, Observe, Conclude.
-learn about gravity. matter, mass, distance, orbit, and center of gravity
-work cooperatively with a partner during the experiments
-be active participants while conducting an experiment
-make a connection with Newton's feelings about school.
-develop an appreciation for physical science
-be able to demonstrate these concepts with an object of their choice
