Format
1. Students will learn how to identity a good role model.
2. Discussion about how alcohol, tobacco, and prescription drugs affect the body and brain
3. Students will participate in an activity to identity candy or pills.
3. Student volunteers will be ‘pressured’ to try a drug and will be coached by the McMillen educator on refusal skills.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program the student will be able to:
1. State four ways to keep the body healthy.
2. List three functions of the brain.
3. Define when it is okay to take medicine.
4. State that nicotine can be poisonous.
5. State the definition of a drug.
6. List the main effects of alcohol on the brain.
7. List the main effects of tobacco on the body.
8. Define peer pressure.
9. Identify and practice using at least three refusal techniques.
10. Demonstrate the best way to refuse a drug.
