Format
1. This program begins with an introduction to the six essential nutrients.
2. Students learn how to read a nutrition label.
3. This is followed with a discussion on how portion sizes have changed throughout the years.
4. Students identify food as minimally, moderately, or highly processed.
5. Students are given tips for mindful eating.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:
1. Name the five healthy food groups from MyPlate.
2. Identify the six essential nutrients and name a healthy source for each nutrient.
3. Analyze a nutrition label to determine if a food is healthy or not so healthy.
4. Identify three tips to implement mindful eating.
5. Differentiate between serving size and portion size.
6. Identify three factors that can influence their eating choices.
7. Define food processing as food that has been changed in any way from its natural state.
8. Differentiate between minimally processed, moderately processed, and highly processed foods.
