Virtual Programs are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:00 am–4:00 pm ET and run for 30-45 minutes. Advance registration (at least one week before program date) is required. Fall programs are available from September 4, 2025 until December 19, 2025. Our spring programs will open for registration on January 5, 2026.

Format

1. Welcome to Longwood Gardens and the program
2. Define "adaptation" and discuss why it is necessary for plants to adapt
3. Explore Longwood's carnivorous plant collection and identify adaptations
4. Review key concepts learned throughout the lesson
5. Close with question and answer session

Objectives

Students will…
- Discuss what a plant needs to survive
- Understand that plants adapt to their environment to meet their basic needs to survive
- Identify carnivorous plant adaptations
