Safety First is a program designed to increase awareness of safety rules, both inside and outside of the home, and their importance to maintaining a healthy body. Participants will discover how their bodies and senses help to keep them safe. Topics include look-a-likes (medicine/cleaners versus food/candy), 9-1-1 emergencies, and fire safety.

Pricing - $350 per program for 1-50 students; $600 per program for 51-100 students

A tiered pricing system is utilized based on the number of program participants which will be discussed at the time of scheduling.

Provider's Cancellation Policy

A fee of 25% will be charged to sites that cancel with 15-3 days notice.
A full 100% fee will be charged to sites that cancel with less than 48 hours notice.
No fee will be charged to programs cancelled due to natural causes (weather, etc.)

Located in south central Pennsylvania, Byrnes Health Education (BHE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that remains dedicated to the mission of educating and inspiring people of all ages to make healthy choices since 1995.


We are proud to offer a variety of preventive health education programs to students (grades PreK-12) and adults (workplace, parents, teachers). Those local to our area can experience our "in-person" programs either here at our center or at their location. Additionally, now thanks to technology, participants outside of our "in-person" reach can experience our "live-virtual" webcast programs during which a BHE health educator streams live from one of our five teaching theaters, Participants in all programs are presented vital health content while being engaged through interactive visuals, props, exhibits, activities, and experiments,

Program subject areas include Social/Emotional (character education/bullying prevention), substance abuse prevention, general health, human development, nutrition & fitness, oral health, and safety & disease prevention. All program content is based on factual scientific information, and guided and mapped to state and national health education standards (as well as those in several Canadian providences).

Program Details

Format

1. Our special bodies - bones, muscles, brain, senses work to protect us (Charlie Chan activity)
2. Habits to keep our bodies healthy - healthy nutrition, physical activity, cleanliness, sleep
3. Look-a-likes - candy vs. medicine (activity), unsafe items
4. Fire safety - smoke detector (alarm activity), safe spot, smoke (candle activity), stop drop and roll (demonstration & video)
5. Emergencies -dialing 911, knowing your personal information during an emergency (full name, address, telephone number) (emergency video, 911 role play activity)
6. Inside vs. Outside Safety Precautions - discussions and (safety boards activity)
7. Crossing the street - discussion (street crossing activity)

Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
1. Identify safety rules inside the home.
2. Identify safety rules outside the home.
3. Understand fire safety and emergency rules.
