Program Details

Format

1. Dorothy begins by talking about her own love of dogs and love of the idea of partnership with another species.
2. She describes how dogs are similar to and different from their wolf ancestors
3. She tells how the different jobs dogs do originate from wolf behavior
4. She shows how scientists study dog behavior and brain activity and how that relates to our relationship with our loving animal partners
5. Questions from the audience answered

Objectives

Learn how science can help us understand important things about living things using dogs as an example
Learn about the many jobs dogs can do for us
Come to respect the intelligence, talents and emotions of dogs
Learn how human choices in breeding animals can emphasize particular traits
