Program Details

Format

Roxie does an introduction to coral reefs. Next she shows an animated Keynote slide presentation with live voice-over discussion. Included are images and information on 29 creatures. Then she explains how the book was created: researching and choosing her subjects, writing and editing the text, making a storyboard and dummy, to sketches, painting the final art, and making the book cover. We make a brief visit to Roxie's art studio, and then have a live Q and A with the audience.

Objectives

The participants will be introduced to 29 Caribbean reef creatures, up close and personal. They will learn how a nonfiction picture book is created: from researching, writing and editing the text, to storyboard and dummy to sketches, painting the final art, and making the book cover. Participants visit a professional artist's studio.
