Format
1. This program begins with a discussion of what germs are.
2. We then discuss different ways that germs can be spread.
3. We do an activity using glitter to demonstrate the spread of germs on objects.
4. We discuss how our bodies protect us from germs and how to keep the immune system strong and healthy.
5. We discuss how to stop the spread of germs.
6. We practice hand washing technique as a group.
7. We watch a video about when to wash hands.
8. We do an activity to discover the importance of using soap when washing hands.
9. An activity using baby powder demonstrates the importance of covering coughs/sneezes.
10. We then discuss what COVID-19 is and how to minimize the spread of the virus.
11. We do an activity to understand how far 6ft really is.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program the student will be able to:
1. Define germs as something very small that may make you sick.
2. State ways in which germs can be spread.
3. State that healthy eating, good sleep, and exercise are ways to keep the body healthy.
4. Identify ways to stop the spread of germs.
5. Demonstrate correct handwashing technique.
6. Identify the times when someone should wash their hands.
7. Define COVID-19 as a virus that can make people sick.
8. Identify ways that people can minimize the spread of COVID-19.
