Format
1. This program begins with a look at the outward changes of puberty.
2. We then discuss the changes that occur on the inside of the body during puberty and will include a look at the male and female reproductive system.
3. We view a video to explain menstruation.
4. Students will participate in activities to explore the emotional changes, empathy, friendship development, and choices surrounding adolescents.
5. Time is allowed for questions and answers.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:
1. Define adolescence as an important stage of life.
2. Identify normal physical changes that occur during adolescence.
3. Name the hormones produced by the testicles and ovaries.
4. Identify the organs of the reproductive system and their function.
5. Define conception.
6. Identify physical and emotional advantages of sexual abstinence.
7. List three important qualities of a friend.
8. Define empathy.
9. Explain the importance of treating others with respect.
10. Identify that feelings towards others change during adolescence and adulthood.
