Format
1. We begin by defining stress and students experience stress by taking a pop quiz!
2. Students learn to distinguish between good stress and bad stress.
3. Students learn about the mind-body connection and the physical effects stress can have on
the body.
4. We will discuss the three types of stress.
5. Students practice safe coping strategies to deal with stress.
6. Social-emotional skills will be introduced and defined.
7. Students will participate in an Empathy activity.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:
1. Define social-emotional health as the ability to understand and manage one’s emotions
and relationships.
2. Define stress as a state of mental or emotional strain resulting from adverse
circumstances.
3. Identify three physical effects of stress in the body.
4. Model one healthy coping strategy to deal with stress in a positive way.
5. Name one social-emotional skill.
6. Identify the three types of stress as positive, tolerable, and toxic.
