Distance Learning for adult audiences at The Cleveland Museum of Art allows lifelong learners to connect with the CMA and enrich their studies of history and visual arts through our collection of art and artifacts from around the world. Through live, interactive videoconferencing, students participate in conversations with museum educators that are two-way and fully interactive.

Virtual learning for Pre-K–Grade-12 students offers connections
with the CMA collection through live, interactive video sessions with a
CMA educator. Explore artworks through discussion, writing, drawing,
and movement.  Lessons are designed for grades Pre-K–Grade-12 and are designed to support standards.

Program Details

Format

This program is very flexible, and each session is a bit different since students are making choices about their learning.
1. We will introduce the museum.
2. We'll explore 3-8 works of art from many different cultures, time periods, and areas of the museum.
3. Students will utilize a variety of strategies (discussion, writing, drawing, movement, etc.) to engage with artworks.

Within a lesson, teachers may expect to see their students make choices such as:
- Selecting between several works of art to explore
- Making choices about strategies to engage with an artwork (i.e. writing, drawing, talking, movement, etc.)

Objectives

-Differentiate between verbal, visual & other forms of communication
-Extract and evaluate information about a culture, time period or cultural values from a work of art
-Communicate ideas or opinions about works of art
