Historian's Apprentice: History, Museums, and Primary Source Documents

Students will step into the role of a historian and take a virtual tour of Liberty Hall Museum.  Guided by museum educators in period dress, students will discover the halls of Liberty Hall while exploring how museums use objects to tell stories.  The program concludes with a guided exploration into studying and transcribing primary source documents from Liberty Hall’s collection.

Objectives

At the end of this program students will be able to:
- Analyze primary source documents from the 18th and 19th centuries and identify key components and facts described in the documents
- Discuss the role of records, memoirs, and artifacts in preserving history
- Engage in a discussion about how museums tell stories with objects
- Recognize the vital importance of preserving and studying history
