Student to World: Mental Health

Student to World is an online course where youth learn about global issues from articles, videos, and stories created by students from around the world. The program explores a theme from a local to global perspective, culminating with an action plan. Currently, the following themes are available: Global Hunger, Art in Action, Ocean Health, and Pandemic, Overcoming Bia, Mental Health, Sports, Women's Rights and Human Rights.


Student to World: Mental Health teaches about the strigma of mental health issues in various contexts and communities, as well as how youth can care for themselves and their brain health. With unique features, including youth-generated instructional vides and tips for taking concrete action against stigma and bias, this curriculum is of interest to everyone concerned with the mental health of global youth and creating a kinder, more compassionate world.

Program Details

Format

Student to World: Mental Health is explore through 4 modules.

Module 1 #EverydayBrainHealth: Teens explore and share stories about the connection between our minds and our emotions, how specific chemicals in the brain impact our mental health, and what we can do to strengthen our mental health.

Module 2 #EverydayStigma: Teens explore and share stories about the perceptions around mental health and the stigma that comes from our communities surrounding different mental health disorders.

Module 3 #EverydayScreenFree: Teens explore and share stories about the correlation between excessive social media use, screen time, and our mental health.

Module 4 #EverydayAction: Teens will explore and design an action plan for how they can help break down stigmas surrounding mental health.

-Examine the chemical reactions in your brain
-Understand the different chemicals that are released in times of happiness and stress
-Explore the stigma surrounding mental health in your local community
-Reflect on the ways that mental health stigma are created and perpetuated
-Consider the role of social media in mental health
-Explore methods of reducing stress and mental health challenges in your daily life
-Set a goal to support positive mental health for all; Know how stories help connect us to one another.
