Program Details

Format

1. The program begins with introductions to the Royal BC Museum, presenters, and an overview of the program
2. Meet some of the whales of J-Pod (a group of southern resident orcas)
3. Learn about family structures and behaviour
4. Discover how orcas around the world adapt to their oceans and use different techniques such as echolocation to catch their prey
5. Meet the whale that changed our perspective on orcas and launched the age of captivity
6. Investigate some of the risks that impact orcas, like overfishing and pollution.
7. Questions are welcome throughout the program

• Learn about the behaviours and life cycles of orcas
• Consider social, ethical and environmental implications on orcas and the ocean
• Feel the connectiveness between orcas, humans, and the environment
