Cambodia’s Chapei - Saving the music (30 min)

by  Learn Around The World

Program image

We can all agree that war is bad and affects countries in many ways. Lives are lost, homes are lost, and in some cases, culture is lost. Cambodia experienced this very thing during the Khmer Rouge genocide. Masters of the traditional arts, and their knowledge, were lost during this terrible time. But one organization, the Cambodian Living Arts, is fighting to keep Cambodia’s traditional arts alive. On this VFT you’ll learn about the Chapei Dang Weng, a traditional Cambodian instrument, and how the Cambodian Living Arts is saving the music.
