Students will learn tips and tricks for making delicious and balanced meals. The MyPlate will be discussed, as well as, commonly used herb and spice food pairings. Proper storage of herbs and spices will be addressed.

Schedule 5 of the same program on the same day and one will be free! Please include a purchase order number when you submit a reservation. Bridging fees will be paid by the customer. An invoice will be sent after successful delivery of each program. A 1.5% late charge will be added 30 days after the invoice date. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your confirmed videoconference date to avoid billing. Payment is due in full upon receipt of the invoice. Checks should be made to McMillen Health in US Dollars. Non-payment will result in the denial of further registration from your organization.

Program Details

Format

1. This program begins with a look at the five healthy food groups found on the MyPlate .
2. We then discuss what herbs and spices goes well with each food group.
3. We will do a What’s That Smell activity.
4. Participants discuss rules for adding and storing spices.
5. We finish with a talk about other ways we can keep our bodies healthy.
6. Time is allowed for questions and answers.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:

1. Identify the five healthy food groups found on the MyPlate model.
2. Identify the main nutrient each food group provides.
3. List at least three commonly used herbs and spices.
