Science Live! Shows are interactive “edu-tainment” programs showcasing a variety of science concepts.
Objectives
Grades PK-5
• Observe how the motion and position can be changed by pushing or pulling, showing that work is being done.
• Investigate the effects of force on various objects.
Grades 6-8
• Identify the similarities and differences between potential and kinetic energy
• Demonstrate how the motion and position of objects are affected by unbalanced forces.
• Investigate Newton’s laws of motion and their real-world applications.
Grades 9-12 and Adult
• Recognize and demonstrate that objects and substances in motion have kinetic energy, including the vibration of atoms.
• Investigate the transformations of potential and kinetic energy
• Investigate the conservation of energy

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.1.W.8 With guidance and support from adults, recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.1.SL.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade 1 topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.2.W.8 Recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.3.W.7 Conduct short research projects that build knowledge about a topic.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.3.SL.3 Ask and answer questions about information from a speaker, offering appropriate elaboration and detail.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.3.SL.4 Report on a topic or text, tell a story, or recount an experience with appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details, speaking clearly at an understandable pace.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.4.W.7 Conduct short research projects that build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.5.W.7 Conduct short research projects that use several sources to build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.6-8.WHST.7 Conduct short research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question), drawing on several sources and generating additional related, focused questions that allow for multiple avenues of exploration.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.9-10.WHST.7 Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question) or solve a problem; narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate; synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.11-12.WHST.7 Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question) or solve a problem; narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate; synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.K.SL.3 Ask and answer questions in order to seek help, get information, or clarify something that is not understood.
CCSS.MATH.K.MP.2 Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
CCSS.MATH.K.MP.5 Use appropriate tools strategically.
CCSS.MATH.K.MD.1 Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.
CCSS.MATH.K.MD.2 Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has “more of”/“less of” the attribute, and describe the difference. For example, directly compare the heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
