June 05–09, 2023 - Dive into an ocean of STEM adventure this summer with Virtual Mote Camps via Zoom!
Together we explore the depths of oceans ecosystems from shallow coral reefs and seagrass beds to deep sea canyons and islands–all from the comfort of your home! With a mix of virtual field trips, hands-on activities, and educational videos, campers will learn about the diversity of marine life and the important role ocean ecosystems play in our planet's health. Join us for a summer of fun and discovery as we explore the wonders of our ocean world together!
Monday - Wonderful Wetlands - freshwater ecosystems; hydrologic cycle
Tuesday - Sensational Seashores - beaches, mangroves; tidal processes, erosion
Wednesday - Lullaby Lagoon - seagrass, oyster beds; nutrient cycles
Thursday - Sanctuary Reef - coral reefs; food webs
Friday - Deep-sea Secrets - ocean, islands, deep-sea; currents, adaptations

Topics and activities are geared for ages 6 to 10 year olds (1st–4th), however other ages are welcome to register and explore with us.

This event is open to users located in the United States only.

We are committed to camper safety. All Mote Education staff members are full-time employees. Our entire team has been trained on proper virtual learning safety practices.

Topics and activities are geared for ages 6 to 10 year olds (1st–4th), however other ages are welcome to register and explore with us.

As a world-class, AZA-accredited nonprofit marine research institution, we bring the excitement of authentic research and hands-on learning to you. From chatting with a shark trainer in our stunning aquarium, to exploring the Florida Keys and observing coral reefs like a real scientist, our virtual lessons are designed to engage and inspire your students. Aligned with state and national education standards, our lessons range from 30 to 60 minutes and provide a unique and thrilling way to dive into STEM topics. Objectives

1. Increase knowledge and understanding of marine life and ocean ecosystems.
2. Develop appreciation for the role of oceans in the planet's health and the importance of conservation.
3. Provide a variety of virtual field trips, hands-on activities, and educational videos that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
4. Encourage engagement in collaborative learning, idea sharing, and connection with others interested in marine science.
5. Enhance digital literacy skills by providing a platform for them to engage in online learning, navigation, and research.
6. Foster independence, self-reliance, and adaptability by encouraging them to take ownership of their learning and explore their interests in a supportive environment.
