African Safari Edventure

Embark on an epic journey through Africa's many habitats from the safety of your classroom! In this virtual safari, you'll learn that Africa's savannah staples are full of surprises, you will get a closer look at some of our African 'Animal Ambassadors' and even discover ways that you can help protect them!


This includes a 15-minute Q&A with conservation educators at the end of the program period! As a virtual outreach, all animal encounters will be conducted via Zoom.

Provider's Cancellation Policy

• To cancel a program(s), please call 417-225-1162.
• Cancellations made two weeks or more prior to your scheduled program will be refunded the entire cost of the program(s), minus a $10 service fee.
• There will be no refunds for cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the scheduled program.
• In cases of snow and ice, we reserve the right to cancel a program for the safety of museum staff and animals. A full refund for the cost of the program will be granted if the program cannot be rescheduled.
• In cases of snow and ice where school is canceled and virtual learning is not an option, you reserve the right to reschedule the program for a later date.

Program Details

Format

1. This program begins with an introduction about the host, Wonders of Wildlife, and the facility.
2. We then do a quick pre-test like trivia.
3. We talk about the Saraha Desert, the Congo River Basin, and some African wildlife.
4. We then do an animal presentation.
5. We then discuss a few more African animals before transitioning into some more trivia and Q&A. We do ask for questions to be saved until after the presentation. Based on this, it might be best for students to have paper and a pencil to write down their thoughts!

Objectives

Participants will:
-Expand their knowledge of habitat diversity throughout Africa.
-Explore animal adaptions found in African species.
-Develop proficiency in using observations of adaptations to tell more about a species.
-Compare animal adaptations using live animal encounters.
-Discover new ways to engage in conservation from a home or classroom setting.
