• Cancellations made two weeks or more prior to your scheduled program will be refunded the entire cost of the program(s), minus a $10 service fee.
• There will be no refunds for cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the scheduled program.
• In cases of snow and ice, we reserve the right to cancel a program for the safety of museum staff and animals. A full refund for the cost of the program will be granted if the program cannot be rescheduled.
• In cases of snow and ice where school is canceled and virtual learning is not an option, you reserve the right to reschedule the program for a later date.

Program Details

Format

1. The host introduces themselves, the topic, and gives a brief overview of WoW (Wonders of Wildlife) and our facility.
2. The host then gives some general information on what makes something a swamp, and the differences between shrub and forested swamps.
3. The host then discusses why certain animals live in swamps.
4. We then see pictures of the swamp creatures at WoW and discuss what challenges these creatures are currently facing in the wild. This will include a live animal demonstration.
5. We discuss what the audience can do to help swamps.
6. We end with a Q&A.

Objectives

Participants will:
-Gain a greater appreciation for the importance of swamps and wetland ecosystems.
-Dispel rumors and stigma about swamps as harmful or useless environments.
-Explore the hidden biodiversity of swamp-dwelling species.
-Form meaningful observations of the adaptations that allow wetland organisms to survive their unique environments.
-Observe the differences a large volume of water can cause in the physical adaptations of closely related swamp and non-swamp species.
-Develop new tools to use at home or in the classroom to help save swamp ecosystems.
