Program Details

Format

1. Program will provide overview of Herbivore, Carnivore, and Omnivore.
2. Program will look at how the zoo procures and prepares food for the animals in our diet kitchen.
3. Program will follow keepers as they feed the different animals and learn how feeding animals in the zoo is both similar and different from animals in the wild.
4. Program will learn how the zoo uses science to make sure each animal's nutrition needs are being met.
5. Time is allowed for questions and answers.

Objectives

Participants will:
-explore the differences between herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.
-learn how animals in the wild find food and see how zoo keepers work to encourage natural hunting and foraging behaviors.
-Learn about the high volume of work required to feed and care for all the animals at the zoo.
