InstaSTEM Mini: A Short Course in Photo Research

Alexandra Siy writes books rich in scientific imagery. She Knows how find, analyze, and use quality primary source scientific imagery and teaches this important research skill to students in grades 3-12. InstaSTEM Mini is an hour-long program that shows students where to look for images online, how to know if an image is a primary source, and if and how an image can be used without infringing on copyright. Students will learn how to analyze images, read and write captions, and write photo credits.

LET'S READ, COUNT, AND SHOUT! Having Fun with the CCSS

LET'S READ, COUNT, AND SHOUT! is an interactive program for preK through first grade that uses Alexandra Siy's book ONE TRACTOR: A COUNTING BOOK to introduce children to numbers, word opposites, and discovering content in images. In ONE TRACTOR a child uses his imagination to count different kinds of vehicles in his sand box. But also included on each page is another main character, as well as word opposites that children learn to anticipate as they listen to the rhythm of the text. During this program children are encouraged to "shout" as they all read out loud, count, and explore each page.
