CILC is excited to partner with Fins Magazine to celebrate World Oceans Day. Learn about the importance of our oceans through programs delivered from Royal Botanical Gardens, Banyan Global Learning, Silverton Aquarium, Honolulu Zoo, Seaquest and more. Each program will have a Merperson Education representative from Fins Magazine helping host the event!

Shedding light on the communities, ideas, and solutions that are working together to protect and revitalize the ocean and everything it sustains.

American Eel: Sargasso Sea to Lake Ontario and Back Again
Freshwater wetlands provide important habitat to maturing American Eels. Join Karin to discover the different functions of a wetland and how it provides the perfect spot to thrive before heading back out to the North Atlantic Ocean to spawn.
Pufferfish have beaks!

Join Fins Magazine and CILC as we go to the Aquarium at the Silverton Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Mermaid McKenzie will be reporting live from Las Vegas where we learn about the pufferfish. Sometimes called a blowfish, we will learn about its behaviors , where it lives and if we are lucky, get to see a feeding. We will discuss problems in its environments and how we can help in our daily activities. There is time for questions from the classrooms at the end of the segment.
Immerse into Sharks
Join Fins Magazine and CILC as we go to Seaquest Aquarium in Woodridge NJ. Merman Zee and Mermaid Marina will be hosting us as we learn about sharks. One of our mer-friends will be swimming with the sharks WHILE we learn about the sharks, their behaviors and what we can do to help them in their natural environments. The end of the segment ends with time for questions from classrooms.
Treasures at Abalone Cove
Join Fins Magazine and CILC as we go to Abalone Cove in California to learn about the natural treasures found in this beautiful cove with Banyan Global Learning. Education Reporter Mermaid Rachelle and Mr. Travis will show and discuss examples of this coastal ecosystem and learn about them as we go along. We will discuss human impacts to this environment and how we can help protect such a priceless treasure. There is a short time for questions from the classrooms at the end of the segment.

Join Fins Magazine and CILC as we go to the Honolulu Zoo in Hawaii. Mermaid Chelsea will be our education reporter taking us live to Hawaii to learn about the unique and rare Gharial Crocodile. The Honolulu Zoo has two of 665 gharial crocodiles in the world. Learn about this unique crocodile with its unique snout and why turtles are completely safe around them. We learn what has led to its endangered status and how we can help the gharial crocodile and others like it that are endangered.
