What if history felt less like a list of dates to memorize and more like a story students could step into? That's the experience IKEducation strives to create every day.
IKEducation is the Eisenhower Foundation's flagship K–12 education initiative, providing teachers and students with engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences grounded in primary sources that explore the life and legacy of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Through onsite field trips, live online programs, classroom outreach, and educational resources, IKEducation brings history to life in meaningful and memorable ways.
Although rooted in history, IKEducation's programs are intentionally cross-curricular. Lessons integrate STEM, language arts, civics, government, social studies, fine arts, and even physical education, helping students see how history connects to every aspect of learning—and to the world around them.
As the defining events of World War II and the transformative years of the 1950s become more distant, IKEducation embraces the responsibility of connecting new generations to Eisenhower's life and legacy. Subjects such as Operation Overlord, the Holocaust, and the American presidency can feel overwhelming or disconnected from students' lives. IKEducation meets that challenge by breaking these complex topics into engaging, age-appropriate experiences that encourage students to ask questions, analyze evidence, and discover meaningful connections between the past and the present.
What makes IKEducation especially unique is that it is built by educators. Our team has over 400 combined years of classroom experience and understands the realities teachers face each day. As a result, every program is designed by teachers, for teachers—with practical classroom needs, academic standards, and student engagement at the forefront. Thanks to the generosity of the Eisenhower Foundation's donors, these programs and resources are provided to schools at no cost.
Ultimately, IKEducation measures success by more than what students remember. The goal is for every student to leave feeling curious, more confident in their ability to think critically, and inspired to continue exploring history. When students discover that history is not just something that happened long ago—but something that helps them better understand the world today and their role in shaping tomorrow—IKEducation has fulfilled its mission.
