Exploring Problems and Issues Through Research and Technology

About

Eastchester Middle School (Eastchester, New York, USA) grade 7 students will participate in a course that develops their self-directed, independent study, communication, information and digital literacy skills. Students will form small groups (of 2-3 students) or work individually to investigate a problem or issue derived from the regular curriculum, current events or personal interests. There are approximately 80 students in the fall/early Winter semester and about the same in the Winter/Spring semester. As part of their project work, students will develop wiki pages and SMART Notebook presentations on their topics. They will also be making postings on our course Moodle site and developing concept maps using Webspiration software. We are interested in collaborating with a class doing similar work that would enable our students (based on their topics) to work together through videoconferences. If interested, please contact John Blaser via email: jblaser@eastchester.k12.ny.us.
