by  Authors on Call, iNK Think Tank

Program image

InstaSTEM Mini was developed by author and photographer Alexandra Siy and focuses on science imagery and how it is used to support scientific writing and research. Knowing how find, analyze, and use quality primary source scientific imagery is an important research skill required of students by the CCSS. InstaSTEM Mini is an hour-long program that shows students where to look for images online, how to know if an image is a primary source, and if and how an image can be used without infringing on copyright. Students will learn how to analyze images, read and write captions, and write photo credits. This one-hour program is appropriate for students in grades 3-12. An interactive four part workshop with author and photographer Alexandra Siy is available through the Professional Development section of CILC (InstaSTEM:Turning STEM into STEAM)
