Format
1. This program starts with a discussion of what the participates already know about STDs.(or STIs)
2. Adults will participate in a “roll of the dice” activity which will be explained at the end of the program.
3. Participants identify parts of the reproductive system for both males and females.
4. Adults will look at charts and discuss the increase in STD/STI infections among older adults.
5. Adults will hear about and see pictures of common sexually transmitted infections includes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, human papillomavirus, herpes, and HIV/AIDS
6. Adults will be encouraged to participate in a myths/facts activity throughout the program.
7. Participates will receive information about protection, steps for condom use, consent, and testing.
9. Time is allowed for questions and answers.
Objectives
1. State that sexually transmitted diseases or infections can be passed through any type of sexual activity.
2. Name five common sexually transmitted diseases/infections.
3. Identify symptoms associated with sexually transmitted diseases.
4. State that some STDs/STIs can be asymptomatic but still may be transmitted to others.
5. State that testing is the only way to know someone’s infection status.
6. State that STD/STI infection transmission occurs based on behavior not on any other factor.
7. Demonstrate the ability to ask a potential partner about his/her sexual history including any infections or treatment.
8. Identify that safe sex practices can prevent the spread of an STD if used properly and consistently.
9. State that drug use impacts normal judgment and may increase the risk of infection through sexual activity.
10. Name basic organs of the male and female reproductive systems.
11. Name three credible sites for future reference.
