Choose one* of our story-based programs (Aesop, Winter Tales, American Ghost Stories, Journey of Chen, or Irish Folk Tales & Songs ), or customize a set of stories based on your themes, goals, and audience, all brought to life by award-winning professional actor J.T. Turner.  Interactive, engaging, and full of positive life lessons. 

1) A Visit with Aesop. The greatest storyteller in the world would like to visit with you!  Aesop shares the story of his own life from slavery to freedom in Ancient Greece, along with his classic animal based fables, such as the Tortoise and the Hare, The Lion and the Mouse, The Two Frogs, and Androcles and the Lion, among others.  K – Grade 5.
2) Winter Tales from Around the World: Illuminate the darkness with diverse folktales, such as The Monkey and the Turtle (Philippines), The Three Dolls (Europe), and Ananzi and the Big Weird Rock (Africa/Caribbean). K - Adult Learners
3) American Ghost Stories:  All the characters are brought to life in these traditional ghostly tales that range from silly to spooky, such as the Fiddler of Maine & John and the Ghost.  Grade 3 - Adult Learners
4) The Journey of Chen: Animal Tai Chi: Enjoy an original folktale while learning the gentle, mindful movements of Tai Chi, based in observations of how animals moved in ancient China. K - Grade 6. 
5) Irish Folktales & Songs: great for St. Patrick's Day!
6) CUSTOM: request a customized story set for YOUR to your theme (e.g., SEL, character, friendship, courage, cooperation, inclusion, social justice, anti-bullying, self-esteem), season, or literary focus (Harper Lee / To Kill A Mockingbird , John Steinbeck / Of Mice and Men , etc), Adaptable for K - 12 AND Adult Learners. Also see our "Seasonal Specials" and "Charles Dickens" programs!

The Actors Company's professional teaching artists offer original, engaging, historical and literary character-based shows, as well as customized workshops in theater topics and mindful & creative movement. 

Our highly interactive programs support educational objectives in ELA, HSS, STE, SEL, performing arts & physical literacy, in schools, as well as life-long learning goals in community settings. Our carefully researched historical & literary shows are presented in period costume, and all our programs are adaptable to specific curricular, developmental, and scheduling needs. 

TAC was founded by J.T. Turner (SAG-AFTRA, AEA), an award-winning professional writer, actor, director, and educator, and is managed by Marci Diamond (MPA, SAG-AFTRA, AEA), also a professional teaching artist/performer. Additional programming is provided by Marisa Diamond (BFA, SAG-AFTRA, AEA). 

All our teaching artists have extensive performance and teaching experience, both virtually and in-person, working with film and theater companies, universities, schools, senior communities, museums, universities, corporate and government clients, and non-profits. Program Details

Format

1. Storyteller performs several stories (this is not a reading, but rather a live, engaging performance of all characters)
2. Audience engagement and participation are elicited in selected stories
3. Question and answer with performer can address story structure, context, performance, etc.

Objectives

1. Participants will explore traditional stories from different historical eras, geographical regions, and cultures.
2. Participants will develop an appreciation for story structure, as well as character, language and plot development and devices, through exploration of both comedic and dramatic stories.
3. Participants in movement based stories also may improve focus, self-control, balance, and mobility.
