This program introduces ecological, environmental and cultural aspects of Denali National Park & Preserve. Students will learn about Denali National Park & Preserve and how various animals have adapted to overcome challenges in this subarctic environment. Students will engage through course materials, interactive activities, videos and Q&A. Videos will be embedded in the presentation, however, links can be provided in case of a poor internet connection or difficulty streaming.

Program Details

Format

1. Introduce the subarctic, definition of adaptation, and Denali National Park & Preserve.
2. Discuss animals that live in Denali.
3. Learn about how lynx, moose and bears are adapted for life in Denali.
4. Watch "live" videos from Denali and answer interactive questions.
5. Time allowed for questions and answers.

Objectives

1. Students will be able to define adaptation and the subarctic.
2. Students will be able to identify challenges with living in the subarctic.
3. Students will be able to describe physical and behavioral adaptations in a few Denali animals.
